What I Find I Keep

If you asked me a year.. or a few months.. or even a few weeks ago I'd tell you I'm a very black and white person.  I'd easily categorize good and bad, up from down, dog from cat.  This all started to change when the idea of buy or sell came into my life.  I've mentioned somewhere (blog.. etsy..talking out loud to myself..) that the entire reason I started my Etsy store was because I always wanted things that did not serve a purpose to me - ie men's clothes, shoes that don't fit my feet - you get the idea.  This becomes much trickier when I come across things that may serve a purpose to me - ie clothes that do fit.  I have bitter sweetly put up items in the shop that I bought with the intention of keeping for myself. (so long vintage ll bean crew neck, may you rest sweetly at your new home in Brooklyn)  I do however, keep things for myself - things I know I will wear without hesitation.  For whatever reason, this still make me anxious, because I know its good stuff, that may draw more attention to Motif Number One, but if I am not living the brand I am trying to sell than I am a phony, and no one likes phony-bologna.  Beyond that, wearing used and thrifted clothes has rapidly adjusted my "swoon-o-meter" - whereas in days past my heart would skip at the thought of walking into a J. Crew, but after spending hundreds (read: thousands) of doll-hairs on theirs and similar clothing it has somehow lost the allure.  Yes, proudly wearing a super LL Bean sweater that I paid $2.50 makes me feel good, because it cost less than the coffee I will inevitably spill all over it - but the true satisfaction comes from a successful hunt.  I wear my trophies proudly and I can't wait for you to ask me where I got them.

So here, I present you with recent additions to my own private collection!  My readers get the super intimate upgrade from outside photo, as seen on Etsy, to bedroom photo.  Oooh and aaah over the intimate lighting and the alluring fantasy of me in my pink polka dot pajama pants snapping iPhone pics before I collapse into bed.

Salmon colored Eddie Bauer t-shirt sweater.  Normally, I wouldn't care about Eddie Bauer, but this one was made in America, and I think bright colors are "in"

This is a similar female version of a shirt I have in the store now - but even more vintageyier! Woolrich cotton chamois, but the color makes it look like worn in chambray.  Perfect for cooler Spring and Summer days to wear with cut off shorts!

Yes these shoes have a mystery stain.. no I don't care because how CUTE are they.  Truthfully, and I'll say this because we are friends, they are 1/2 size too small, but I've already started to bandage my feet to shrink them to fit.  I will rue the day that my frustration forces me to put these babies up for sale.

LL Bean silk wool blend sweater made in Maine!  It's so soft, and fits perfect and I love her and I'll keep her forever and ever.
