Apologies aside, this past week was a little wonky, emotionally and also in the amount of getting shit done I had to/wanted to do. I had two midterms due within 2 days of each other, each if which required somewhat extensive essay writing on quasi complicated philosophical subjects, in addition to working on my psychology term paper, and taking steps to tackle a living room update.
Following all that, was this past weekend which was my birthday! Saturday I woke up and got on my birthday dress and went for a wonderful lunch with my mom, my dad and Tre to the Friendly Toast. I'm really excited because my mom paid for my CSA (community supported agriculture) and my dad bought me a new compost tumbler! Now that I'm typing this, I'm thinking about how cool it will be do to a weekly post of what I get in my CSA, and maybe a recipe that uses the ever changing veggies that I get each week throughout the season! yay blogging!
Tre seriously spoiled me, I don't even feel comfortable talking about all the things he got me here because I'd sound like a spoiled bragging brat. I will share the "big gift" because it's mutually beneficial to myself (well, mostly beneficial to myself) and to my readers - because guysss guess what? I'm now the proud owner of a real grown up DSLR.
Now, as you're carefully reading all of my words and not prematurely scrolling down to the photo section of this post I'm sure you're expecting TONS of fantastic pseudo professional DSLR photos of my birthday weekend. Alas, with everything going on Saturday (before I got my new camera) I decided not to distract myself from my family by taking photos and being obnoxious. And even more sadly, the restaurant we went to for my birthday dinner was way packed, way small and way dark - so no way was I going to be the obnoxious uncool outsider flashing pics of the dozen or so dishes that graced our table Saturday night. Therefore, after I brag about my birthday dinner I'll post some pictures from Sunday. But lets not get ahead of ourselves here...
Saturday night, for my birthday we went to Toro which is a tapas style restaurant run by Tre's friend and chef/owner Jamie Bissonnette. Jamie owns another restaurant in Boston called Coppa that we've been to a few times, and had amazing meals at, and this night at Toro was no different. They do such a great job at picking a few perfect ingredients and marrying them into incredible flavors. If any of you do go to Toro, get there early, the wait is usually 2-3 hours. Make sure you get the corn and the paella and a glass of sangria, if you drink. So anyways, dinner was amazing, sorry you don't get to visually join me on my birthday and I hope you go to Toro and see for yourself. (and don't take pictures because then we're even)
Sunday, was Easter. Yes I know you're aware of that because your blog reader is littered with pictures of peoples babies wearing pink and yellow. I'm of the grumpy holiday hating bunch and Tre and I always skip Easter so I somehow, without complaint from him, convinced him to go to Ikea with me. For whatever reason (my atheism prevents me from saying that God was spiting us for not celebrating Easter) there was a TON of traffic getting to the south shore, but we made it and Ikea was pretty dead. I got what I needed, and more, because that's what you do at Ikea. On the way home we stopped in Boston for some pho in Chinatown, where I was the annoying girl with the big camera taking pictures, so that's what you get for today.
Sunday night we went to Sarah's to eat pizza and watch Game of Thrones and it was awesome! Sarah's husband Al made the best BBQ 'chicken' pizza which is my fav and I was a happy girl.

I'm glad you had a great birthday! We were planning on going to Ikea Sunday too but we wouldn't have been able to fit what we wanted and a carseat in the back. That food looks yummy!
