Disney World pt. 4

So that afternoon we decided to take a nap, so we could catch up from sleep after our long day prior and to stay chipper for our late dinner at 'Ohana.  After a rest, we were hungry and hadn't used our snack credit yet - so we decided to head to Magic Kingdom.  Our plan was to get a snack on Main St, then to spend an hour on Bay Lake with a Sea Raycer, and finally to go to our dinner reservation at 8:15.

If you're not "in the know" with Disney, then you don't know about the amazing cinnamon buns at the Main St. Bakery.  Seriously so good, and I think they were the only non-vegan thing I had all trip.  I love to get one, and sit on the terrace on this little side street near the bakery.  All of the windows on Main St indicate some kind if business, and in this alcove is "music lessons" so as you sit and enjoy your snack, you hear "music lessons" going on - kids making mistakes on the piano scales, a little girl having a singing lesson - it's really cool.

Unfortunately, our plans were quickly thwarted when we arrive at the Polynesian's marina and found that they close at 6 pm.  This now meant we had 2 hours to kill, which isn't enough to really go anywhere, or do anything at Disney World.  So, after a moment to collect ourselves we headed over to Bay Lake Tower, just to see what it was like.  My dad has gone back and fourth on the idea of investing in DVC, and this is their newest resort.  It was OK - pretty much could have been any hotel in any city - really not much "Disney" about it.  However, it is the closest to Magic Kingdom, and you can't beat sitting out on your own patio to watch Wishes every night.

So, after wandering there for a while I got an idea -"Hey lets go back to Poly, and get some Kona coffee before dinner!".  So off we went, back to the Polynesian, just to find out that the Kona coffee bar turns into a sushi bar at 3.  Boo :(  so after a bit of googling, I confirmed what I already suspected, the closest "real" coffee was back at the Contemporary.  So off we went, on our 4th monorail ride back to where we just came from.  After a few escalator rides, and with some cautious optimism - we found it! real coffee! I got a large iced coffee - which was mostly ice, and it was glorious and I believe I finished it before we even boarded the monorail once again to go back to the Polynesian.

Dinner at 'Ohana was delish as always.  Even though it's probably the most meat-centric restaurant on property, they make an incredible vegan spread of hummus and babaganoush with flatbread as an appetizer, and a veggie/tofu stir fry with brown rice for dinner.  Best of all, is that I can always count on them to have cookies and ice cream for dessert!

We ended the night by watching Wishes from the beach at the Polynesian.  It's really one of my favorite things to do at Disney World, and I can't wait until the day I get to stay at the Polynesian and just walk down to the beach to watch the fireworks with my toes in some sand or my ass in a hammock.

(note to self: seriously Amanda, don't be lazy and bring a tripod with you!)
